I'm trying to setup a Vorne GY2200 Display to work with a AB Logix5563 PLC.
This is not a new installation, it was in its current state when I arrived, but I'm also not sure if it ever worked correctly. I'm using the RS232 connection on the PLC, the cable only has wires attached to the #4 and #5 pins on both sides, then going into the RS232 connection on the display. The Serial Port setup in the PLC is:
MODE: System
BAUD RATE: 9600
DATA BITS: 8
PARITY: None
STOP BITS: 1
CONTROL LINE: No Handshake
The dipswitches on the display are set to:
BAUD RATE 300: OFF
BAUD RATE 1200: OFF
BAUD RATE 2400: OFF
BAUD RATE 4800: OFF
BAUD RATE 9600: ON
DATA BITS: 8
PARITY: OFF
STOP BITS: 1
CARRIGE RETURN: ON
LINE FEED: ON
ADRESS: 00
The Pinout for the AB Logix5563 Serial Port is:
PIN #1: DCD
PIN #2: RXD
PIN #3: TXD
PIN #4: DTR
PIN #5: GND
PIN #6: DSR
PIN #7: RTS
PIN #8: CTS
PIN #9: N/C
The Pinout for the GY2200 Display serial port is:
PIN #1: UNUSED
PIN #2: SERIAL OUT -
PIN #3: SERIAL OUT +
PIN #4: SERIAL IN -
PIN #5: SERIAL IN +
PIN #6: UNUSED
PIN #7: UNUSED
PIN #8: GROUND
PIN #9: UNUSED
Again the cable between the two is only using pin #4 & #5
PLC #4 DTR---DISPLAY #4 SERIAL IN -
PLC #5 GND---DISPLAY #5 SERIAL IN +
The display just continues to display the initial marquee that indicates the current dipswitch settings, I have read through the setup manuals for bout the GY2200 and how to send ASCII from serial port for LOGIX 5563.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
