OT but up the flag pole anyway. I am looking for a manufacturer of a 3 phase 240v 400Hz motor. The stator OD should be about 4 inches in diameter. I know that's a farmer way to specifiy a motor but we have done some studies and that will develop much more HP than we need.
We will need about 1 to 2 hundred motors a year. That small number does not interest the manufacturers that we talked to.
Any ideas guys
If I tell you the application we will both be shot:)

Sorry

4 poles. As I understand it they are used in aircraft because they develop lots of power for their weight. That is exactly why we we want to use them.

Know anybody in the aircraft repair business??

From a long ago conversation with a Boeing flightline electrician, almost all of aircraft wiring was 400 Hz EXCEPT passenger used outlets - these were 60 cycle. I also seem to remember that some motors ie very VITAL were DC off the batteries. So in theory you may be able to find a 400 Hz motor designed for aircraft that would meet your need. Gonna cost though.
