I am trying to go to a 504 CPU.
and on my hmi I am getting a 9028 error.
can someone explain what they mean by change reference?

What is the part number of your PanelView and what communications are you trying to use?

Is this a new installation or one that has been working in the past?

If I understand correctly I have a 2711-k6c1 B rev K FRN 4.21
I have my comms set to DH+

So, the K6C1 supports RIO but not DH+. See page 20:

I'm guessing this is a new installation?

To use that PanelView you will need a 174-SN card in the rack.

Note: DH+ and RIO use the same cable to communicate but they are different protocols.

If it is I suggest you start reading the user manual for how to set up your tags in the PanelView.

Thank you Allen and Joseph I think I will end up having to get a different HMI .
I was going to a 504 CPU because i needed the memory to expand the program i am working on.

No it wasn't a new install i was using a 503 CPU with a 1747-SN B scanner and it worked fine.
I went to the manual as suggested and see that my k6c1 needs to be a c8 model

If it is wired to the 1747-SN card then it should still work regardless of which processor you have.

I only do this when i am trying to do something new with the pouring machine i built so i don't have a whole lot of experience with PLC'S
and HMI programing. I try to learn as I go.
My issue started when i found that I could expand my i/o's and binary's on the 503 CPU
but when it came to my HMI i hit a road block it will only let me go up to I:1.15/15
at a loss of how to expand

Are you using PanelBuilder 32 to update your PanelView program?

What are the settings on the communications tab?

Yes i am using panel builder 32.
for my 503 CPU
slc 5/03 os 302 1747-sn series b plc
rack 1 module (all checked) last chassis (check)
baud (230400)
