PLC-500 ICOM Software & SLC-500 plc

Boot the computer in safe mode, and see if RSLinx will run. Check the setup for the driver. Delete and recreate. I remember it was fairly easy to set up the driver wrong as the default was not the PCMK module , but the PKTX.

This is the hardware:

& this is what we get out of it at the end, this is a 110V rail battery test graph:

Thought that you may like to see the nuts and bolts.

Before wasting any more time with the 1747-40C, then seriously consider to just upgrade it to something more recent.
You have the offline program already. There seems to be no operator panel or any such things to complicate the matter. Just a few inputs and outputs.
My guess is that the conversion can be done in less than a day, and the expense is very little (any small PLC can do the job).

You have to do it sooner or later anyway, so ...

Were you able to get RSLinx to start in Safe mode?

I guess Mitsi is the future, but we still have to support existing equipment.

Just trying a few things out this end, might be able to get hold of a clean install of RSLogix and RSLinx if all goes well, then we can try again.

Thanks to all for the inputs, very much appreciated!

Hi Peter,

If you don't manage to get it sorted out then I might be able to put you in touch with a couple of ex Allen Bradley engineers in your area of the country, one in Coventry, the other in Leicester, they should be able to help you out with getting on-line.

But long term as JesperMP has suggested why not plan to upgrade, you might be surprised at how little it would cost to fit a modern Allen Bradley PLC and if you have the existing ladder logix it could be imported.

With a small modern PLC mounted on a baseplate drilled to to fit the existing SLC mountings, when one of your customers calls because their SLC is dead you could be ready to sell them a replacement / upgrade. May even be able to add some extra features.
