I am trying to locate a programmable controller for a high temperature environment. Most controllers are around 55 or 60 degrees C. I am looking for 70 degrees C or higher. Perhaps someone knows of a manufacturer with higher specs. Thank you.

If a cabinet air conditioner won't work for you - Siemens' S7-300 Outdoor line is rated -25 to +70 C. I think I have seen other manufacturers with similar ratings - (Modicon maybe?)

We put the first machine with this equipment into service this past spring, and have had no problems so far. (This machine is a piece of railroad track maintenance equipment).

As a sidenote: While hardware was the reason I started using Siemens plcs, I have been very happy with the software. I have programmed Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, and Automation Direct plcs, and I prefer Siemens Step7 software.

Here's a link to the Siemens Webpage: Siemens S7-300 Outdoor

I don't mean to sound like a Siemens commercial, and I may have a totally different opinion of them after my machine goes through its first Northeast winter. But, so far I am satisfed.

Good Luck in your search-

Dang it, I was hoping not to see PLCs rated for higher temperatures. I am a big supporter of enclosing a whole air conditioned room around the PLC.

Disclaimer: Has nothing to do with the fact that this programmer is not yet acclimated to heat, and works in the oil fields :)

My company has had very good luck with the GE fanuc product line. We use them for boiler automation on ships. The temperature can get pretty hot. ABS required us to bake them in testing before they recieved ABS type approval.

Hi

Seimens also do Hazardous Areas equipment and I am quite sure the temp range is wide. The sales stuff landed on my desk about 3 weeks ago but I can't find it so all I can say is try your local seimens rep.
