I have no communication between a slc 5/03 via modbus, and I want to know which is the channel configuration.
I tried to connect the pc with modbus poll and I had no answer.
How do I know what is the configuration of channel 0 in a slc 5/03 ??
does anyone knows which is the modbus map and what the bits means ??

If your SLC5/03 supports modbus ( must have the proper firmware 11 I believe). Then see PDF below.

99.99 % of all the SLC 5/03 don't support modbus natively.
You need to start a new thread.

Well given that the SLC5/03 has been around for a very long time your percentage is probably close. Only the new ones will support it.

I was thinking about to prosoft RTU 5/03. I didn't think about the new firmware.
So maybe 95~97.5% don't support it

the plc was working ok but after a voltage shutdown it stop working.

C'mon guys, all the info is there to be digested - each has its own advantages and features

I suspect the issues in the field are noise related, or due to signals bouncing back from the high impedance receivers.

I have noted this from the RS232 spec. "Multi-drop connection among more than two devices is not defined. While multi-drop "work-arounds" have been devised, they have limitations in speed and compatibility."

And this :- "Single-ended signaling referred to a common signal ground limits the noise immunity and transmission distance."

Dialc, please start a new thread with your specific question in it. Modbus has almost nothing to do with the current thread.

The newest SLC-5/03 controllers (Series C FRN 11 firmware) support Modbus RTU Master. SLC-500 modular controllers do not support Modbus RTU Slave; for those applications, Prosoft modules are recommended.
