RSlinx - Copy DDE/OPC link

Its been a long time since I did this with a slc. The only two differences that I see is that I had tag name as "n7:0" I dont remember l1,c1. also I remember having problems with that lock before I got it to work also. probably not much help for you

WAQ, are you running RS security software. My software has the security stuff greyed out so I don't know how you get the lock symbol.

From your screenprint it looks like double quotes around the N7:0 - it should be single quotes.


=RSLINX|TESTSOL!'N7:0,L1,C1'

I believe you need to setup the windows ddeshare and tust it.
Start\run\ddeshare
make a *|* (generic share)
also go to services under admin and be sure your DDE services is enabled and running

Can you see the device in the browser window when you click the topic from within Linx? Just wondering if the Topic is still correctly associated with the relevant processor.....


Did you 'Paste Special' or just plain old 'Paste' in Excel?

Any time I have an active item being serviced, I get the lock symbol too. I think it's normal. I am not using the security features of RSLinx either...

Problem solved!!

I am able to view the correct data now. I made two changes
- Created a windows DDE share (thanks joesullivan8 and RSlinx help topic)
- Checked the polled data collection mode (see pic), it was unchecked before.
