I just found that RSLinx Classic V 2.54.00 installs properly, although V 2.55.00 gives the exact same error and the wizard is interrupted.

What´s strange is that the wizard does not even create the destination folder. It´s interrupted before cretaing the folder or copying any file.

I seriously doubt it will install and run on a 64 bit OS.

I configured a brand new 64-bit install and tried turning off UAC, running as Administrator, Compatibility Mode. I tried combinations of all of those as well. All failed at the same point. I'm sure 64-bit is the culprit.

My guess is that this checks for 32/64-bit and fails if it detects 64-bit. Earlier versions probably did not check for 64-bit.

Just did the exact same thing in Win7 32-bit and did not have to use any special settings. Installation was successful without issue in 32-bit.

I installed Windows 7 32 bit on my laptop with dual boot and FT installed with no problem.

Under 64 bit the wizard stops at teh point right before it pops up the window to ask you to confirm you want to install the selected driver.

It´s annoying to have 2 different OSs on my laptop although I can´t spend the time right now to re install all the software I have in my Win64 bit.

I had a similar problem with a later version. You could try searching for the installer file RSLinx Enterprise.msi, copy it to your C drive root directory and then do the following

START > Run > Type:

msiexec /i "C:\RSLinx Enterprise.msi" /l*v c:\install.log

This will create install.log in your root directory. Now there will be all sorts of guff in it but at the bottom you'll find some properties that look like

Property(C): ERR*******

They will tell you what the problem is
