RSLinx OPC question.

Is there a tag limit with RSLinx?? We use Kepware OPC to get exchange data from our machines to our historian. Could I use RSLinx OPC instead?? With our Kepware OPC, we are limited to a number of tags. If we need more tags, we have to call Kepware OPC and buy more. Is that the same thing with Rockwell's RSLinx?

If you are using Kepware why are you thinking about changing?

I have used both, I think I needed RSLinx 'Pro' you could not use the OEM or the lite and is was cheaper to use Kepware, I think I bought it from Automation Direct

I think that they are both limited to the number of tags

RSLinx lite is for programming only
RSLinx OEM lets you connect to 1 OPC topic
RSLinx Pro lets you connect to multiple OPC topics
I have use Linx pro with over 100,000 Tags However if you are talking to control logix you should consider RSLinx Enterprise with the FT OPC connector which is purchaced on a Tag quantity and a lot more expensive than RSLinx standard.
RSLinx was created for windows 95 and is not optimised like RSLinx enterprise for talking to control logix but there are tricks for this
