RSlogix5000 Greyed out Timer Preset

Hi,

I'm new to PLCs and I'm using RSlogix5000. I'm trying to blink an LED with some timers, however, when I put a timer such as Timer On Delay onto my rung, the Preset and Accum box is greyed out and I cannot input anything. When I click on it, it says Ladder Element Field is non-editable on the bottom left status bar.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

you've got to create a new tagname for the timer before you can do the edit ...

suggestion: right-click the TOP question mark in the timer instruction ... then select "new tag" from the popup menu ... type in "MyTimer" (without the quotes) and then click OK ...

now see if you have better luck ...

if you need help with VALID tagnames, please post again ...

Thank you so much. That helped. Previously, I did not right click and click new tag. I simply left clicked and typed a tag name inside. I did not realize that in doing so, I was not actually creating a tag.
