RSLogix5000 v16 Ethernet Modules

I have a project a customer supplied an old version 5555 CPU (1756-L55) that I flashed to version 16.22 (the highest it would support)

Using version 16 RSL5K I will be able to do everything they need, no v26 or higher features needed.

In Studio5K if you right click on the ethernet module you can add a new module that can be another PLC, a Powerflex, a HMI, or a lot of other components to the I/O configuration.

In this version once I got the 10 slot rack filled all the New Module selections are greyed out. The New Module selection on the ethernet card is also greyed out.

Is version 16 limited to only one rack, or does this work a different way?

I am offline, I haven't even powered up the CLX rack yet. I am just setting up the IO and haven't started writing the program.

Here are photos of ver16 greyed out and ver32 that will let me create modules.

1756-ENET/A does not support I/O

There are some revisions of Series A hardware can be upgraded to series B firmware, but not all.
Overall, this is 10M module and should not be used for I/O. It was discontinued almost 20 years ago.
Try to find ENBT instead.

Is it Series A or B. I think Series A doesnt support . Try using series B or better 1756-ENBT or one of the newer Ethernet modules.

I think this customer is trying to get this done cheap with on-hand items.

Now to tell them to upgrade or it can't happen. (Really was hoping to have a problem with the CPU to get at least v26, but they knew the CPU was working)

EDIT: I just searched eBay and found the -ENET/B cards are going for more than the -ENBT cards. A few choices under $100 so maybe they won't take it too hard.

I changed the project to a ENBT and got some more functionality, but not all the options.


As a test I changed the version to 20 and all the options showed up.


So the ENET and CPU need updated.
