S7-300 communicate with Omron PLC

Hi there,

can s7-300 plc communicate with any omron PLC through Ethernet?

i had two old omron plsc installed, one is c200he cpu42, the other is c200hg cpu43, we'd like to install a new s7-300 plc and set up communication through the new one and old two omron plcs. but i got the information that the old ones do not support ethernet, so can i change the old ones with newer omron plcs and set up the ethernet network with s7-300?

Yes you can do that.. there are two ways to do this ...
1). Installing a communication module to communicate between the PLCs and do some programming.
2). Linking them with OPC. It's easy and quick.
You will need the following:
OMRON OPC Server:

Siemens OPC Server:

OPC Data Manager to link both OPC Server:

have you checked if a gateway was availaible to link your old omron serial protocol to Siemens availaible protocol from your new plc

By this you may keep your old plc and pass the comm across the Siemens to the ethernet by a tada table....

I'm not sure (not skilled with omron) if your old program will fit inside a new plc ....if you can't upload and dowload it why not replacing it by a Siemens one also ?

Customer don't want to replace the old omrons, and the current solution migh be using Omron CLK, and use another omron plc instead of S7-300.
