Hi,

I have a Siemens S5 PLC with a CPU944(6ES5 944-7UA22) and a
CP524(6ES5 524-OAA41).
The CPU944 module without EPROM and the CP524 module with EPROM(6ES5 373-OAA41).
Could somebody explain me how this two modules work together?

Thanks,

Shaul

The CPU is the PLC brain, this is where the program is stored and executed. The CP524 is a serial communication card to interconnect the CPU to another device or printer.

Thank you for your reply. So the EPROM in the CP524 contains only a communication program and the main program is stored in the CPU944 RAM?
I am abble to access the CPU program with a programming tool like Step5.
How can I access the communication program stored in the EPROM?

The CP524 has a D type 25 female connector. Is this connector also used to download the program using the com535 software package you mentioned?
Do I need also a special programming communication cable?
Where can I find more information and documentation about CP524 and com535?
