Looking for suggestions for very small remote I/O blocks -- 16 digital input/16 digital outputs. Still waiting on some dimensional specs for some bolts that will be screwed into the tray, but my space is limited to, say 2.5" wide, 3" deep , 6.5 - 7 inches long. Not concerned about the network used (Profibus, E/IP, etc) as I need to find a block that fits first, then work back from there.

I've read about Horner's Smartstix I/O - it seems to fit the bill (or tray:)) so to speak, but I'm not too familiar with them.

Any one have suggestions?

Check http://www.beckhoff.com/english/bus_terminal/overview.htm?id=36483690 for more options.

I've fit the A-B CompactBlock and CompactBlock LDX into places that small, in the channel on the side of conveyors. DeviceNet, A-B RIO, and Profibus-DP.
