trend showing a hatch pattern

Hello. I am working in FTVSE v8. I have many trends set up some of them work others do not. The ones that don't work show the foot print of the trend object but rather than seeing the trend and/or legend you see a diagonal hatch like pattern. Has anyone ever seen this before? I am currently downloading patch to see if that resolves...
