Using AB PIC driver with a virtual serial port

[font=&quot]I have several customers who have asked about using our products, with program through capabilities, to program an AB PLC via DH485.

I am not overly familiar with the AB side of things, but it appears that the only driver in RSLinx capable of programming a SLC via DH485 is the PIC driver. The problem I am running into is that the driver will not load when I select a non-physical port on my PC. When I use HW-Group's VSP program the port I create, COM4, does not show up under Ports in device manager. It shows up under Eltima virtual serial ports.

My question is has anyone been able to get the PIC driver installed on a virtual port, or is there another driver in Linx I can use to program a SLC (or any other AB PLC) via DH485?

The PIC driver needs to use the handshaking signals of a on-board serial port to control the PIC directly, so a virtual driver to a USB-RS232 converter won't work.

Allen Bradly makes the 1747-UIC, a USB to DH-485 (RS232 or RS-485 h/w) converter to replace the PIC. Works a lot better than the PIC and is not expensive.

But on my computer it does not know about this and works
