Another consideration is the emulated NIC / driver in the guest. I had some windows networking weirdness that went away when I switched from the default E1000 to the vmxnet3 NIC in a guest.
Yet another option that doesn't appear as a drop-down in the guest settings, rather having to set via editing the .vmx
