i have been working with ab plcs for the last 2 years. I have been reading about FBD and stl. does any one have any examples. that they can post for me to look at. maybe one of each ladder, fbd, and stl.
thanks

I have a link to a pdf file showing the same program written in ladder (LD), function block (FB) and two different structured text (ST) versions.

I have one of them online using a Moeller HPG-300 that includes a web server. You can view it at: http://208.51.57.70 (note Java is required). To see the program working, select Web EPAM from the menu at the left. There is no password, just click OK. I think it will only support 3 connections at a time and reaction over the web is a little slow so don't go all spastic with multiple rapid fire clicks on the buttons... Patience is a virtue. There is a screen saver which shows our Flodyne/Hydradyne logo jumping around the screen so if this is showing, just ckick on the screen once.

I have a web cam pointed at the display at http://208.51.57.69
The lighting doesn't work out too well but you can kind of make things out. The brightness of the screen mostly washes out the image.

Information about the hardware is here:

thanks guys now i will have to get the time to read the info, but from the quick glance i made that is what i was looking for.
another quick???
my first plc teacher told me once that you could write logic for ab's in FBD and STL but i have not found any conferming info on this. is this right or is ab in the dark ages

Like most things you have to be more specific than flinging out general terms like AB PLC. It depends on the processor and programming software that you have. For the most part to get to all that stuff you would need a controlLogix and the RSLogix 5000 Pro software package, which will allow FBD, STL, SFC and LAD. You can do LAD and SFC on the PLC5, which this may also require the Pro software. None of the processors do IL (instructon list) at this point. Most of the older "traditional" PLC companies all have processors available that are in the "dark ages". There are quite a few companies that are basing their products on the CoDeSYS kernel which supports all the IEC languages.
