For any person looking to get their Zelio SR2 USB01 USB cable to work in Win 7, x64 and sort of newbie:
-March 2015 and unbelievably the manufacturer driver as-is at webpage will give trouble!
-Thank you to forum for hosting and solution provider for solving!
-If like me, you are probably here because receiving an error either stating:
(error no. DC46_86) OR something in line with
Cannot open the communication port COM......... Please check it is not being used by another apllication
The issue is unless you can assign COM1 to the cable, it won´t work. Often, not simple.
OK, to solve as in my case:
-Register here at PLC -pretty good to do as you are already fiddling with PLC's obviously
-Download the file provided and unzip to your preferred location on computer
-Remove the cable if you had it in and not working
-Go to Ctrl Panel>Hardware & Sound>Device Manager>double click Ports (COM & LPT)
-Right Click the non-working Zelio cable and select uninstall to uninstall non-operational driver.
-OK, without bad drivers in the way, plug in your SR2USB01 and wait a bit
-A while later it should take you to selecting the driver source/location (if not, read below)
-select the location where you stored the downloaded files and proceed
-yes, you will be questioned about unverified source, but I can attest its OK
-done
--------
-if it didn´t take you to choose driver location, and installed some other "default" driver like the manufacturer´s:
-Go to Ctrl Panel>Hardware & Sound>Device Manager>double click Ports (COM & LPT)
-Right Click that non-working Zelio cable and this time select Update Driver Software
-I´m sure you figured it out, correct...select the one downloaded one from this site
BTW...I can see 1 file more in this unzipped selection, no issues.
---------
OK, now all setup.
When you are in ZelioSoft, choose the Transfer tab or option atop the screen
Wait... before transferring, go to the lower option COMMUNICATION configuration
Now, finally and contrasting with all other available drivers, you can select an option that is your USB and respective COM port and not necessarily the COM1.
- select it and start communicating with your Zelio relay!
Again, thanks to the author of solution and to this site for hosting its availability.
I made this kind of dumb-proof, because often at this point of research, frustration seems to have overtaken one´s logical thinking ...like why hasn´t the manufacturer done this by now?
