Here is a sample app I created with AHMI. It's already compiled. It was done with VisualStudio17, it should be backwards compatible.. to 15, 13, etc., but I didn't test to find out. I included a Modbus sim in the zip file so you should be able to run the sim and then run AHMI. To run AHMI ...AHMI Updated Alarming v13\AdvancedHMI\bin\Debug\AdvancedHMI.exe.
On the main display you can toggle the different buttons for alarms, then go to the status and history pages. I also include some example mutlistate, numeric displays, numeric entries, and string entries. The numeric and multistate have embedded variables, similar to RA, although, I didn't show that in the examples.
If you have any specific info you need please let me know. I tried to test as best as possible, but there may be a bug or two that slipped by.
