If you click help and then click Vendor Sample Projects while in RSLogix 5000, a PDF will pop up with some neat examples. One example shows how to use a processor's serial port as a Modbus-Slave/Modbus-Master.

Is it possible to adapt the Modbus examples to talk Modbus-TCP using the RSLogix 5000 Message instruction?

Thanks for your help!

If you search the AB sample code library online there is a sample there to use just messaging to do Modbus TCP. It looks very complicated but it does work. I tried it once with a paperless chart recorder. But I ended up just using a Spectrum Controls Universal gateway as it was much simpler.

Thanks for the Responses!

The Modbus/TCP AOI needs at least version 20 with an 1756-EWEB from what I read. I have upgraded my 1756-L55 to a 1756-L63 with a 1756-ENBT. Next, I will need to replace the ENBT?

Modbus AOI should work with Ver 17 of higher.
L63 can run Ver 20.
But 1756-ENBT does not support Sockets.
You need a modern module like EN2T or old EWEB
