There is on 1747-L532 processor two connectors - DH485 and RS232.

Is it any advantagies of PIC system comparing with CP3 cable?
In my opinion using just RS232 cable much more easier. Am I right?

So why they still keep on SLC5/03 processors DH485 connector?

Ok, i'm wrong about multi-processor using. And of course this processor need DH485.
But I still have a question about difference just for programming one processor.
Now i can program it using CP3 cable (RS232) or PIC device. RS232 cable is chip. PIC device is expensive.
Is there reasons to use PIC just for programming or i can do it just using CP3 cable? What is the differnce betwin this two methods from this point of view.

For just programming an SLC5/03, 04, or 05 the 1747-CP3 serial cable is just fine. The connection speed is about the same or faster than DH485, and it is very simple to set up and run.

The DH-485 PIC is really only used with older SLC5/02 systems when you have to use the DH-485 port to program into.

Don't bother with the 1747-PIC device at this time. You should be able to buy a 1747-UIC which uses the USB port. It will be more useful for DH-485 than the rather old and not beautiful PIC.
