Hey,
I'm working on a system that is going to be somewhat modular in nature, and Ethernet based, using CompactLogix and Studio 5000. For all my modules I need to have the "Major Fault on Controller if Connection Fails While In Run Mode" enabled, to make sure I don't lose connection to a module I should have communication to.
The issue comes in when they change configurations of the equipment, they may remove some of the modules. They'll have to make the corresponding change in the configuration section of my program when they remove a module so that the program knows it is missing. Now I will want to disable the "Major Fault on Controller if Connection Fails While In Run Mode" function, using logic.
My reseller gave me instructions on how to inhibit the module all together using an SSV, but I'm not sure if inhibiting the module will prevent a major fault from occuring if the module is missing. I won't be able to do any testing until this weekend, so I wanted to ask if anyone would know if inhibiting the module is going to work for what I need it to do, or if there is a SSV command I can use to enable and disable the "Major Fault on Controller if Connection Fails While In Run Mode" selection, depending on configuration.
Thanks!
