Hi All,

Hoping to get some insight into best way to terminate shielded twisted pair + common into a RJ45 required for RedLion RS485?

Is best practice to run twisted pair, common & shield to terminal blocks, then hack apart an RJ45 cable to get B+ A- and Comm to the RedLion?
Then cable from shield terminal to redLion GND ? EMC Installation Guidelines 2.A

Maybe a fancy RJ45 plug that allows external sheild and 1.5mm twisted pair cables to fit?

We had some discussion about terminating ethernet cable cables (in my case sharing one cable for two network connections):
It's not hard to strip the wires and land them in a terminal block, but if you want to just use complete patch cables you want something like this:
Definitely watch for polarity, if I recall correctly Red Lion and Schneider Electric disagree about the meaning of A/B +/- assignment.
