Step 7 On Tablet PC Question

Hi

I would like to buy one of those new 10 inch tablet PC's with windows 7 installed. I would just like to know if these would be compatible as I would be buying it specific for work purposes for testing newly installed machines

STEP7 needs Win7 Pro.
If by 10 inch tablet you mean a netbook with Atom CPU, then they mostly come with Win7 Home or Home Ultimate.
The performance may also be too low to be enjoyable.
 
what i want to do is load win xp and just use it for the commisioning phase (IO testing, etc).
All what I would like to know is if it will work via Wifi. And are you sure the performance will not be enjoyable as I won't be using it won't replace my laptop, but I will want to make small changes via the device if possible.

Would you advice what I want to do or do you have any other suggestions?
 
XP must be XP Pro.
Yes, you can program via WiFi. The PLC(s) must be integrated into the local wifi/LAN network. All the PLC(s) must have the "use router" ticked in the HW config. The router that connects the PLCs to WiFi must have a fixed IP on the LAN port to the PLC(s). It is this IP adress that must be used as the gateway address.

As to how useful it actually is, not so sure. I am thinking the performance is like 20% of a
