External Source Wire Color....????

Do you guys know what the wire color should be for a DC External source when going from one control panel to another?

I read yellow or orange but I'm wondering if there is a distinction between AC or DC voltage.

Wasn't there something that previous versions of the NEC allowed either yellow or orange for external sources but the latest version restricted it down to just orange? I thought I saw something about that on here a few months ago.

By code long ago it was yellow and for one point the code was yellow or orange but now it's only orange. Voltage potential does not matter.

Sorry I don't know the nec answer but for ce marking rules it had to be orange

Thank you so much guys. In our panels here in our facility I have seen yellow and orange but from now on since the latest changes to the code, I will use "Orange" moving forward.

Here's a question.
We normally have a cabinet that houses AC and with that the power supplies. The DC power then goes to other cabinets/junction boxes to serve them. This is always blue/wht-blu.
Do you think that the wiring outside of the AC box would need to be orange?

I believe the orange applies mostly to foreign external sources, not for your equipment that is a continuation of your control scheme.

But, then, I could also be wrong ...

That's how I've always treated it.

If the voltage is not isolated by the local means of disconnect then it should be orange no matter what the voltage potential or purpose.

This is simply to let you know that even though you have the main disconnect locked out there is still voltage potential present in the cabinet.

You might consider buying NFPA 79 Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery.

that's where the code you are referring to is located.
