AB has two types of Basic modules but what is the difference in them? They have 1746-BAS and 1746-BAS-T part numbers. I do see they take different EEPROM modules but why would you pick one over the other? Are there any functional differences?

Taken from the Installation Instructions:

The BASIC module is a single-slot module that resides in a SLC 500 fixed or modular controller chassis. The BASIC-T module is a higher speed version of the BASIC module with identical hardware features, including two configurable serial ports for RS-232/423, RS-422, and RS-485 communication with I/O devices. Communication to an SLC 500 controller can take place across the 1746 I/O backplane or on the DH485 network through the module’s DH485 port. Both modules also feature 24K bytes of battery-backed RAM, optional 8K or 32K byte non-volatile memory modules, and multiple LED indicators for operator interface.

Thanks. We use the 1746-BAS version but have seen the -T version on Ebay and wondered about it. It should work as a replacement for us. We don't have any timer loops in our program so the speed of the -T won't make a difference.

Jerry H. This isn't a new installation is it?

No, we are having trouble with one module in particular. We didn't have one in spare parts but by swapping modules we know it's bad. Just looking for a replacement and seen many of the -T models hence the question about it.

Why were you wondering about a new installation?
