I believe it is a program for converting files to pdf format.
It is good for avoiding paying for the overpriced acrobat software when all you want to do is print to PDF.
Personally, I use a piece of software called "PDF Creator". It is completely open source, and works quite well. I use this because I found out about it before I became aware of 955pdf, and haven't had any reason to change.

Go to www.pdf995.com and read all about it. That what I use. Works great.

I concur with all thats been said.
It is great for putting the plc program on a cd in PDF format.
You can also put adobe acrobat on the same disk so that anyone can read and see the program without having to have the plc software.
