Event Handling Encoders and Date/time functions

Hi am just getting inot using new telemechanique PLC Pro V.3.4 software her at work and would be grateful for some help on the following questions.

What is the definition of an even and how is it called up?
How is the encoder signal monitored using the event functions?
HOw accurate would a motor control function be, Why? and how could it be improved?


Any help greatly appreciated
