We are using two 4202-DFNT-MCM4 modules. Our requirement is as follows
POINT 1
To get data from RS 485 devices & to display it in Rsview. We are using Controllogix ENBT card as well. I had gone through the manual & what I got is as under
- assign IP and other network options as for control logix ENBT & other computers on network.
- Ping it by sitting on PC it is Ok ,giving reply
- Configure Remote devices via Ethernet Gateway driver
- In Rslinx it is with question mar (yellow) & in Running status
Now I open MCM configuration utility & Assign IP subnet mask & Default gateway as described above.
My requirement is to pick data available on modbus address 40001 to 40010 And 10 coils from 00001 to 00010
I simply go to MCM port 1
Configure it as follows
Now I am issuing this command
Now I go to rsview configure Node, Channel & I will make 10 digital tags & 10
Analogue .For Digital address will be N7:0.0 to N7:0.9
& for Analogue Address will be N7:1 to N7:10
& data will start coming
Is all data 4000 registers will be available from N7:0 to N7:3999
Please acknowledge me that am I doing Ok
Point 2
I don’t have actual modbus salves available but I want confirm my cards configuration as it is an offshore MOPU & we cannot take risk. So I am using following procedure
I had installed MODSIM (utility available on WINTECH site for Slave simulations) on PC. Connect serial port of PC with Port 1 Configured as Master for RS485 data. After giving node no I will put some values in registers from 40001 to 40010.I had already made tags in Rsview then the data I had put in registers through MODSIM will be available to me in RSview.
I am really sorry to bother you too much but actually problem is that we don’t have the actual system here for testing. All hardware is on an OFF shore plant so before going there we had to make sure as we will not be having too much time onsite
