I have a problem with WinCC, it will not connect me to the plc 315 through profibus.

Somehow he doesn't whant to connect.
In step7 I'm able to connect through profibus with the plc, and there is no problem.

Now I am trying to retreive data from the plc and show it in WinCC.
I have Added the: (in WinCC)
- Simatic S7 Protocol Suite
And added by PROFIBUS -> Systemparameters, Tab-page 'Unit'
- Logical device name -> Pc adapter(profibus)
- also added a Tag (when I hver above it.. it says no connection to plc)
The conection cable I use is a USB version of the Siemens Pc adaptor.
That is the same I use in Step7 PC/PG.

Hoping you can help.

Hello Platenkamp;

From the WinCC communications manual (more modern interfaces include the CP5512, CP5613, CP5614):

I don't think you can use the USB-Adapter for your purposes.

Hope this helps,

Hello Platenkamp,

I have Added the: (in WinCC)
- Simatic S7 Protocol Suite
And added by PROFIBUS -> Systemparameters, Tab-page 'Unit'
- Logical device name -> Pc adapter(profibus)

Now if you open Profibus you see the handshake connection (NewConnection)open the property for the handshake connection.
When you do this a tab-page with the name Connection properties
In the map "General" next to name you have a bottum "Properties"
a new popup with al the S7 connection is show
S7 Netwerk Adress
Station Adress: Adress CPU 315 2DP I think standaard 2
Segment-Id: 0
Racknumber: 0
Slotnumber: I think 3

and click OK.

in the hard-ware config of S7 the cpu is in network?

I hope it helps

Thx for your help,

I was not able to solve the problem but I have phoned the wincc help and thei where nor sure if it would work through usb.

So I am back with my old controller Com2 -> through MPI.
This is only a short term solution.

I will update this thread when the other guy phones me back.

----- EDIT ------------------------------------------------------

Hi, I was not able to sit still and wait for the phonecall from the WinCC helpdesk :) and I remberd that maybe the configuration had to be double checked, so I did....

The solution for this problem was in the:
-> Start -> Settings -> config panel -> set Pc/PG interface
Remember that you check that the property of the local copnnection is set to USB, this sounds realy simple but this problem incombination with the slot number made to much options to do in one time right :)
So check wich slot you use in Step7 -> config hardware
and make sure the conection remembers you use USB, becours he somtimes thinks he whants the other one.

Another problem solved with you guys help, thx.
