2711-b6c5 and SLC500 5/03 Communication?

Hi

I have 2711-b6c5 and SLC500 5/03. What are my communoication options here (cables, protocol converters etc ???)

You'll use DH485 for that combo.

Connecting to a Single SLC Controller (Point-to-point)
To connect a DH-485 terminal to a single SLC controller use one of
these cables:
• 0.3 m (1 ft) Cat. No. 1747-C11
• 1.83 m (6 ft) Cat. No. 1747-C10

• 6.1 m (20 ft) Cat. No. 1747-C20

Hi

Thank you for the quick replay.
The problem is that 2711-b6c5 has RS-232 (DB9) port
with DH-485 protocol so I cannot use 1747-Cxx cable directly.

...so I still have no idea how to go about this.

Oops, I missed that little detail.

In that case, you'll use one of these:

5 m (16.4 ft) Cat. No. 2711-NC13
10 m (32.7 ft) Cat. No. 2711-NC14

3 m (10 ft) Cat. No. 2706-NC13

In case someone else runs into same issue:

SLC 5/03 Chan. 0 - System had to be configured to use DH485
Regular home made pin to pin cable worked fine.

(pin 9 not connected)

Same cable used for programming and communication.
RSLinx configured to use PIC driver for plc and screen programming
