RSview 4.00 and Microsoft Virtual PC

I have an issue where I have to creat and modify RSView ME 4.00 applications but I have RSview 5.00 on my PC. Since I can't have both versions installed, I created a Virtual PC using Microsoft Virtual PC and loaded RSview Studio ME version 4.00. Everything works except I can't Restore or
Backup the application to or from the .APA file. When I try, I get the message"

"Unable to create the archive .... Please check that the application is not open elsewhere."

Of course it is not open, it is some issue with compatablility with the Application Manager and the Virtual PC.

Anyone have any suggestions

FactoryTalk View Studio V5.xx can generate runtime applications for RSView ME 4.0, 3.2, 3.1 and 3.0. Therefore, there is no need to have multiple versions of RSView Studio.

Unfortunately, my customer requires the .APA file to be in revision 4.00, not just the .mer file. This is so they can support it with there 4.00 software and they are not willing to upgrade. Once you open up a rev 4.00 application in 5.00 or higher, it can't be converted back to 4.00.

I did, however resolve my problem. When I installed the RSView ME 4.00 on my virtual PC, I did not install the RSLinx Enterprise. This somehow prevented the Application manager from working. Installed RSView enterprise and problem is resolved.

Switch to vm ware. AB software works much better and the system has more features,easier to use and more robust than virtual pc.
