Hi guys, and Gals. I have a Anderson flow meter sending me 10 pulses per liter of water. This is going into a AB CFM module that is calibrated to read also 10 pulses per liter of water.

Sounds simple enough but, our water is actual not equal to 1 liter = 1 KG of water. It is actually 1 liter is = to .966 g/ml of water. What i am trying to figure out is how to convert it into the plc so i have accurate readings.

We are not effected much on product with low volumes of water, but on high volumes we see a problem.

Any help would be great.

At the moment you multiply the number of Litres by 1 to get the Kilograms. Instead multiply the number of Litres by 0.966. Otherwise you could adjust the pulses per Litre, but the pulses per Litre is currently correct, it is the Litre to Kilogram ratio that is wrong.

Ask anderson if you are correct when the density is lower they will have calibration tables.
So when using another type of liquid the flow meter has to be recalibrated anyhow.
Or do it yourself with a tank etc.
an yes bryan is correct too.
however better to have a calibration number (maybe even a array with different flows like for oil is used.

Hi protrac231

Do not forget that density of liquids is dependent on temperature.

In order to get a precise measurement, the media temperature must be taken into consideration.
