REDLION G310 to Modicon 984-145

HMI Info: REDLION Model G310 PT#: G310C210

Client's existing HMI device died and they bought a G310 to replace it. Needing to get the modbus communications up between the two without making changes to the PLC.

Probably a long-shot but has anyone done this before? Trying to go from the G310's RS232 port (RJ12 connector) to the Modicon's Port 1 (9-pin serial), and not sure how to configure communications in the Red Lion to get tag data.

Any help would be appreciated!

I've done a lot of Modbus, just not on a Modicon PLC, but the comms part is easy. Just add a Modbus Universal Master to the RS-232 port on the G310, set the drop number and you should be fine.

Start adding tags and map them to the appropriate registers.

The comms wiring is a different issue. I normally use the DRRJ11T6 DIN Rail adapter with the CBLRC02 to connect it to the Display. However, it looks like the CBLMOD01 is the direct connect cable.

That's actually what I did, but it still wasn't working so I thougt I had the wrong drivers or parameters.

However, it turns out they were using a bad cable. Once the cable was replaced it worked fine.
