Flashing Firmware

I am trying to connect to my Micro 850 PLC and the firmware is not up to date and I cannot get the controlflash to connect to it to update the firmware. I downloaded the firmware from the AB website and installed it, selected the PLC that I have and I get a message saying that there is an "error sending message to server". I have RSlinx classic lite installed on my computer. I am not sure how to flash the firmware.
