Opc Server with excel

i want to connect my opc server with excel
what should i enter as item path in the alias configuration

I'm not sure Excel can read OPC tags. But, it can read DDE.

If you're using RSLinx (I'm guessing this because you said "alias")the formula is:
=RSLINX|DDETOPIC!ADDRESS

You'll need to configure the DDETOPIC in RSLinx. Alias topics are used to create alternate paths to the same processor. You'd use them if you had two ethernet cards in a rack, or a backup COM port, etc.

You need an Excel OPC client that can "speak" with you OPC server.
