kinetix 300 file

was emailed a file for a kinetix 300 drive from a vendor that has the extension MainDrive.dcf.xml
i also have the Motionview Onboard software but can not open this file. I tried with IE and with Chrome.
Can you open a file that is suppose to be in the drive using the Motionview software without actually being connected to a drive
