Siemens OP7 OLD Hmi Terminal

Hi Guys,

Hoping we still have some Siemens Old hardware Gurus on here.
We are trying to support one of our long time customers. Who have obtained a machine we manufactured some 25/30 years ago.

Plc is S7-200 with no problems.

Problem is the Hmi is an old OP7. All in Russian.

I have the WinCC file that was converted from Pro Tool (but not the Pro Tool file).

I cannot for the life of me establish comms with my PPI or MPI cable.

Am i Missing something or am i doing it wrong.

Regards

I did some work on those panels back in a previous job. When they would lose their program. I could reload it with a compactflash card. You can't use any card, you have to use a Siemans one. Upon booting the panel if it see the card, it prompts to copy it to memory. Once done the card can be removed.

Don,t know about OP7 panels but with OP17DP 12 tekstbased panel ( more or less the same Family then the OP7) you transfered the Projectfile with protool software using a serial cable ( db9 at pc side and db15 at hmi side). But on the OP17DP12 HMI there are 2 Ports availible( db9 port for profibus communication with plc and db15 port for project transfer).

What is the part number of the OP7? There were 3 variants - 1 of which does not have MPI/PPI communication capability to S7.

6AV3607-1JC00-0AX1 - OP7/PP - cannot communicate with S7
6AV3607-1JC20-0AX1 - OP7/DP - can communicate with S7
6AV3607-1JC30-0AX1 - OP7/DP-12 - can communicate with S7

Transfer cable is Rs-232, part# 6XV1-440-2KH32

For the 2 models that do have S7 communication capability, you use a cable with the following pin out (S7-200 to interface IF1B on the OP7):

3 - 3
5 - 5
8 - 8

Profibus cable and connectors would work.

If this machine is going to kept for a longer time, I recommend an upgrade to S7-1200 and Comfort or Comfort Unified HMI.
