I am installing a 1756-OF8 that is going to control a proportional valve that takes a 4-20mA signal. The manual does a pretty good job of explaining this but I am still confused.
The pid that generates the signal is scaled in units from 0 - 32767. According to the manual the card uses 0-4096 counts. So I set the module properties as follows.
High signal = 20mA
Low signal = 4mA
High Engineering = 32767
Low Engineering = 0.0
If I am reading correctly when I move 32767 into the channel data it will convert that into 4096 counts and put out 20mA, If I move 0 into the data channel it will put out 4mA.
Am I correct in assuming the configuration of the module takes care of the 'counts' and I don't have to worry about them, or do I have to convert my Engineering units into counts?
This should be an easy question but I am new to CLX and learning on the fly.
