Allen Bradley SLC 5/03 PLC ASCII From RS-232 Port?

Hello All,

Is it possible to send an ASCII string from the RS-232 port of a SLC 5/03 PLC CPU? I'd like to send different strings of data eg. 'Input 1 failed' based on the state of several digital inputs. Does anyone know if this can be done?

Yes.
Take a look at the ASCII instructions, mainly AWT.

yes can, just goto the controller properties and change d comm. port to user and under the user protocols choose Ascii.
