Backup of Simatic OP3 and OP27

I'd like to go with the newer ones, but that would also mean a Profinet card needs to be installed on the PLC, which is obviously more cost.

You mean you would like to go with the comfort panels ? KP700 for example has both ethernet and MPI/DP ports onboard.
