I was holding off on the inevitable OS upgrade... I suspect that I may have just hit the MS gotcha wall.

I didn't run into any issues, I would recommend reinstalling RSLogix.

I looked at the drivers on both laptops... no updates for either

Are you running any other software on these laptops? I seem to remember older versions of Rockwell Software not playing very well with Wonderware's InTouch, for instance. I would find a computer with a fresh install of windows and install logix to it and see if you're still having the same problem.
