CompactLogix driving Simodrive 611

Hi,I have been tasked to upgrade the PLC of a Blowing machine (Gefran) to compactlogix,the machine has Simodrive 611 with CAN bus.
My thought is to use dsicret I/O to drive the Simodrive or use Any Bus (Ethernet to CAN).
What do you think?
Is there a best way to get this job done?
