Hi,

I has one old Siemens PLC, it is CPU313C (6ES7313-5BE01-0AB0) with only MPI on it. I need to use WWDAserver to read data from it. Two questions:

(1) How could I connect CPU313C to Ethernet/IP network?
(2) Is CPU313C expandable? Can I add ethernet card beside the module?

Thanks first!

If you have the space available in the CPU rack you could add an Ethernet CP Lean module 6GK7 343-1CX10-0XE0.
Another alternative would be to update the CPU to a 314C2-PN/DP which has a built in (faster) Ethernet/profinet port.

Mike_RH,

Thanks for your quick answer.

Two more questions:

(1) How much difference between CPU313C and 314C2-PN/DP?
(2) Could I copy all the code from CPU313C to 314C2-PN/DP without problem?

Cam,
What version of Step 7 do you have?
You have to have v5.5 to use the 314pn/dp, so if you don't the CP module might be easier / less expensive.
For the differences between the two, check the Siemens support site.

Jesper, the OP indicated he would be using WW DAserver to communicate.

Thanks again for the answers:

Yes I am going to use WW S7SIMATIC DAServer to talk with CP module,
I am not sure it works or not:

From WW manual:

For S7SIMATIC DAServer from WW, the following protocol are supported:

• TCP/IP with RFC1006
• H1 Industrial Ethernet
• PROFIBUS
• MPI

I have more questions?

What does RFC1006(TCP/IP with RFC1006) mean?
What does H1 (H1 Industrial Ethernet) mean?
ProfiNet means TCP/IP or H1?
CP module should connect to Profinet, right?

Thx

RFC1006 is the protocol all S7 PLC uses.
H1 industrial ethernet is an obsolete term from the S5 PLC.
You will be using Ethernet TCP/IP with the WW Daserver, not Profinet.
Profinet is an extension to regular ethernet.

In short, a CP343-1 LEAN module will work fine for you.
Replacing the 313C for a 314C-2PNDP will also work.
314C-2PNDP is much newer and much more performant than the old 313C. Also the integrated PN port is much faster than the add-on 343-1 LEAN module.
The 314C-2PNDP is 4 times as expensive as a 343-1 LEAN.
