Data logging of string files

Hello all,
i am using ab micrologix 1400 plc. I want to store the string which is scanned by barcode scanner(zebra ds108) .how can i use data logger for string files.
Or how can i save scanned string data in excel file.

Probably the easiest and definitely cheapest is advancedhmi. He has a sample app built already, just have to change from clx to ML.
