Are you using FTV11? Because in 11 you can add E-Sign to the numeric input.
I played a litte bit with it, but its far from good.
If you enter a value out of range (it actually lets you enter a value out of range), the Diagnostic Audit trail message says that it wrote the value down to the tag, following by an error message that it couldnt write the the tag. The FDA will be happy with wrong audit trail messages
Secondly, if the confirmation E-Sign (for the numeric input) is open, and some event changes your screen (vba event), the whole application crashes. Thanks Rockwell.
Also, the E-Sign for the numeric input doesnt update the "previous value" if someone else changed it in another display. Again the audit message is therefore wrong. With the normal E-Sign this works correctly (updating the previous value constantly).
I would say, stick with the normal E-Sign. You can change the "Operation description" throught vba very easy, so that it automatically reads the limits and shows it. Ok, semi automatic, but better than completely hardcoded.
