Ok did the example that Hoffman offers and came up with a number of Temperture rise = approximately 70 F.
Now what do I do with that number?

thanks
jim cav

Add that number (70F) to the ******t temperature expected (or max temperature if not located in a constant temp. area, like outside vs inside a control room) and that will tell you what the temperature inside the enclosure will be.

Hopefully it'll be less than the components are rated at.
