Help-AB SLC 5/04(RS232) to no serial port laptop USB ?

I know.....the topic that wouldn't die. lol
Has anyone been able to use the "no serial port" laptops with a USB com port to program the Allen Bradley SLC 5/04 via DF1(RS232)?
Please reply with the USB adapter you tried and results.

Yes. Both of the below USB to Serial converters work.

I'm a big fan of the Keyspan 19HS product. Works properly with DF1 autoconfig, and has a nifty data monitor utility included. Works effortlessly with Modscan32, too.

Only the A-B 1747-UIC works for DH485 protocol. Trust me.

Thanks much for the replies.

I purchased a Belkin from Staples for 32.95 (needed to find one fast and took a chance)and it worked perfect for the SLC 5/04 and the PV550. Autoconfigured and communicated first try. It actually worked better than the old IBM laptop with the real serial port.
