How to configure a 1769-IF8

I am trying to add an input to a 1769-IF8 which is being read by a CompactLogix L35E. I want to add a 4 to 20 ma signal into input 3 and have entered 8000h into configuration word 20 and 0203h into word 21, but still the input gives me a zero through out the input range. Any advice?

configure the card in the I/O tree

Make sure that you have a JSR pointing to the routine that you have the input programmed to or it will never execute. That has gotten me before.

Thanks for the advise. I found my solution. In RSLogix 5000 controller tag, Local:e:C, e is the slot number, I needed to be offline before entering my configuration numbers, then the program needed to be re-downloaded.
